Flower Of The Week

22 Oct

This week we won’t be talking about a flower, but we will be learning about a plant that is beautiful for fall!

Crotons are tropical plants and can only be grown indoors (unless you happen to live in Southern Florida). They have gorgeous variations of reds, oranges, and yellows in the leaves. Plants that are kept mostly in the shade tend to be more prominently green, while those in full sun develop more pronounced color patterns. Crotons are relatively easy to grow, but paying attention to the temperature can help you bring out more color in your Croton. Plants that are kept at cooler temperatures tend to have more vibrant colors, but be careful not to let them get too cold or they will start dropping their leaves. They like to be watered & misted, but you should let the soil dry out in between. If you keep the temperature and the moisture right Crotons are very easy to keep!
